About the Event

In keeping with our mission, the Music Discovery Concert by United Strings of Color Intermediate Group will showcase two Black composers, Ignatius Sancho and Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de St. Georges. The musicians will also demonstrate members of the string family: the violin, viola and cello, through solos on those instruments with ensemble accompaniment. Then USCI will give a reading of Kelly Starling Lyons' book, "Sing A Song, How Lift Every Voice and Sing Inspired Generations" with narration by Nygel Harris, and singing by Aubrey, a Martin Middle 8th grader. A chance to try out an instrument in our Instrument Zoo will follow.
